Stop letting stress and burnout rule your life

Many of us work too hard because we think it’s a status symbol. We think overwork is equal to success.

The New Yorker calls this devotion the cult of overwork.

And with hustle culture comes the inevitable. Stress and Burnout.

Is Freedom From Stress Real?

Imagine that feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious is not the issue in your life anymore.
What if you could reset your brain so that you have new ways to respond to stressful situations?

Stress Freedom is not about ignoring the symptoms or simply meditating it away when you feel overwhelmed. It’s about developing new pathways in your brain to free yourself from the burden of stress in daily life and never experience stress as you used to.

Insfire Founder Michael Brejnak has been studying the topic of work performance and stress management and has eventually found that most of the things we hear and believe to be true about stress are way more complex and context related, so there’s no single cure from it.

The first step to regaining control over “stress” in your life is to understand the myths of stress.

The 6 Myths You've Been Told About Stress

Recognizing these untruths is the first step to getting better. It’s time to unlearn everything you know about stress as a concept.

MYTH 1:
Stress is the same for everyone. Don’t worry about it

Stress is unique to individuals. Our personality traits often define our reactions to various stressful events, and we experience them differently.

MYTH 2:
If you sleep, exercise, and eat right, you won’t be stressed.

While they do help in fixing the symptoms, these methods do not help in removing the root causes of stress and are more harmful in the long run because the stress keeps coming back. It’s like pumping water out of a leaking boat instead of fixing the leak.

MYTH 3:
Stress is the best movitavor

When you are faced with an approaching deadline, the stress of it motivates you to get things done. But you could also notice how stress could be completely paralyzing. It all depends on the context and your individual response patterns. Working on your stress interpretation mechanisms is the key to taming it and channeling into the desired direction.

MYTH 4:
Everyone gets stressed, there's nothing you can do about it.

Saying you can’t do anything is the first sign of giving up on yourself. It’s true that stress is everywhere. Everything we love and that is important to us will stress us out. But stress is context related. While there are common patterns, it completely depends on individual interpretation and you can learn to look at, and react to stress differently.

MYTH 5:
Tried-and-true stress-relieving strategies work for everyone.

A one-size-fits-all stress-relieving technique doesn’t exist. All of us have unique situations, unique perspectives, and different reactions to various events. The world is constantly evolving and we need to learn how to handle overstimulation. The same method cannot help us all.

MYTH 6:
Only major stress symptoms require attention.

Stress is a sneaky thing. It creeps up on us slowly and we often don’t realize it before it has caused irreparable damage to our personal life, our work, and our relationships.
Minor symptoms like lack of sleep, racing thoughts, and headaches are all your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. It’s best to tackle stress at the earliest, without waiting for major symptoms of stress like heart attacks, stroke, or increased risk of infections. It might be too late then.

Our benchmark of what it means of being stressed has shifted,

so we sometimes don't recognize how stressed we are.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, it might be time for you to seek help:

a sense of overwhelm

racing thoughts

anxious

a sense of overwhelm

lack of focus

difficulty sleeping

a change in appetite

snapping at people

difficulty making decisions

feeling tearful

shallow breathing

headaches

digestive issues

chest pain

feeling dizzy

muscle tension

feeling tired all the time

high blood pressure

Wrong ideas about stress make us feel ashamed of reaching out and asking for help.

A simple google search can give you multiple ways to reduce stress-exercise, meditation, talking to friends…Yet, if these methods were truly so easy to follow, if the stress were so easy to overcome, then 55% of Americans wouldn’t have reported being extremely stressed.

The tried and tested methods are often not effective for us so we keep on living with the stress even at the cost of worsening work performance, failing relationships, and damaged mental and physical health.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Hi, I’m MichAel Brejnak,
Founder of Insfire

I have been exactly where you are.

Starting my first business at 23 and working with 20+ businesses over the years as their consultant meant that overwork and stress took over not just my work but my entire life too. I watched my work performance go down and relationships collapse because I did not have any way to deal with them. I had no way of reaching out because I had been taught that to show emotions was to be weak and that men don’t act this way.

I started looking for solutions to get rid of my stress as well as manage my hardships to concentrate and compete tasks. Only years later I’ve discovered that I’ve been living and intuitively looking to relieve the symptoms of my ADHD condition.

Attending 400+ hours of various self-development workshops and mentoring sessions, getting my Professional Integral Coach Certification and rediscovering the power of breathwork led me to finally seeing and experiencing a lasting positive change in my life.

I started using a combination of different tools and methods I’ve learned to help my clients and that’s how Infire was born, to support other people like me so that they could live their stress-free and perform to their highest capacity both at home and work, without going through the hardships I had to.
